Pedimenti

English Art/Literary Architecture autolivello
Hello,
I would appreciate any help about this.. I can't find ONE clear reference...

And here is the context:
A curious detail that might be likened to ****pedimenti*** in painting is that an entry bridge, bringing to mind earlier XX houses, is situated at the rear of the house, at the top of the hill, where a swimming pool had been planned.

Thanks!
adriana

typo for pentimenti

Hi Adriana,
it looks like a typo for "pentimenti". The Italian word is also used in English in texts about painting.

agree Rachel Fell : put in"pedimenti in painting" and you get quite a few similar misuses of the word... http://www.hawaii.edu/jcf/English/Foreward - Jean Charlot.ht...
