How do I become a litigation friend?

If you want to make a claim on someone’s behalf, our solicitors can help you apply to be their litigation friend. In most cases, you’ll need to:
1. Complete a certificate of suitability, a form that explains why you’re suitable to be a litigation friend
2. If you’re applying to be a child’s litigation friend, send a copy of this certificate to their parent, guardian, or carer. If you’re applying to be a Protected Party’s litigation friend, send it to their legal deputy, attorney, carer, or the person themselves - https://www.irwinmitchell.com/personal/personal-injury-compe...

from the Certificate of suitability of litigation friend

A person acting as a litigation friend for a protected party or a child during court proceedings has to be complete and sign a form called 'Certificate of suitability of litigation friend' through which they confirm 'they're able to 'conduct proceedings on behalf of the above named person competently and fairly'

The below is a sentence taken from the form a litigation friend needs to sign and send to the court:
'I am able to conduct proceedings on behalf of the above named person competently and fairly and I have no interests adverse to those of the above named person.'
