What translation project are you working on right now?
Heavy building equipment, mostly mobile, for a big intercontinental brand. For a long standing client, since at least more than 10 yers.
Bunch of interior and exterior accessoires for cars for a major group of brands. Quite specialised sometimes.
I had to be fast, as it was for the Berlin E-Prix. :) I didn't translate literally. E.g I wanted to avoid translating "charge" (for "electrical charge") as "lading", because that also means "freight" in Dutch. Therefore I translated it as "spanning", to refer to electrical tension.

Modeltrains from German to Dutch, but yesterday also a terminology list electronic components. Please, don't send me jobs for terminology lists. That's something I really only do for regular clients' regular endclients.
Realistic modeltrains: I have to get all of the train terminology right. Those collectors are really proud about the realism of their models and scenery.

I had been working on an insurance connected to a paycard for travels, from English to Flemish. Not my usual technical stuff, but technical manuals offen come with guarantee terms, so I'm used to this kind of legal and financial texts.
(edited) English to Dutch manual of a paper cutting machine. Almost a month of work. Lot's of kitchen utensils and devices nowadays. It's a break from the heavy machinery. Currently I'm working on more frivolous things after GDPR documents of the past weeks: comic books. A big publisher in Belgium wants to re-edit its comic book patrimony and therefore asked me to check the language of some of their main titles. And another text about diesel. This time about the ruling of Leipzig. |
